Some tome ago I installed (badly needed) handholds on the interior ceiling of my main cabin. In doing so I had to remove a classic marine SS dome light dating from 1986.So for a couple of years I went without the light. But LED tech is moving forward rapidly and I noticed these lights. What attracted me was their extremely flat profile - and, man, are they thin. Not much more than 1/4 inch. I also wanted surface mount so I did not have to cut large holes in the headliner which would have to be removed to so a proper job. I have removed the headliner for replacement twice now... never again. So there guys were perfect for my application with a few caveats. The good:1. Easy to install and wire. Simple pos and neg leads. Two small screws and a hole for wires, you are good to go. Of course you will need power (which I already had wired more or less) and you may need to fish cables through the headliner gap between cabin top and headliner. I have about 1/2 inch in there. Tight but doable, I had to fish about five feet and good to go.2. Extremely bright - wow! also dimmable with no external dimmer required. I have usb rechargeable wall lamps on board which operate using the same type of touch switch and I love them. (Note to sailors...check out the usb recargable wall lamps on amazon, fantastic replacement for wired lamps IMO)3. Super lightweight4. Super thin5. Surface mount6. Low power consumption...checked my Xantrex batt monitor and verified .2 amps draw at full brightness. That's 2.4 watts people. Not bad for the light they throw. But these are not perfect, here's why1. No red light mode ( minor issue for most everyone but occasionally when at sea I want to preserve night vision. don't turn these baby's on! your night vision will be gone for a week.)2. There is a 1/4 inch diameter rubber seal on the bottom of the light for cable exit from the body. This seal stands proud of the bottom plate of the light by 1/16 inch. It is a pain when you want the light flush which I did. You have to drill a wire hole big enough to accommodate both the wires (small) and the seal (large) so the light will lay flat on a surface. Of course it is doable but why the hassle?? Just flush the wiring exit people.3. There is light leakage around the trim piece. The unit is installed to the surface and then the silver trim is attached to the light to hide screws and such around the perimeter. Unfortunately when the light is turned on you get a small light band around the base due to leakage. This is definitely aesthetic and does not impact on utility but looks funky. It is a problem that appears in reviews of other surface mount lights as well so not uncommon apparently. One would think it would be easy to tweak the design to prevent this.4. The trim ring sucks, I repeat SUCKS. Come on people, there is no need to attach that ring like it was the hatch on the Space X crew Dragon capsule. Human beings actually have to get this trim off with actual fingers. It is way too hard to get off. I get that it needs to be secure esp with the light leakage, but couldn't they twist on or something? If you make any errors with measurements, etc. You are going to have to get that trim off to get to the mounting screws. MFG. Send me some free lights and I will help you design it.Overall I am very happy. I would be over the moon if my four "not so goods" were addressed.Edit 11/10/21. Forgot to mentionDimmer does not take the lights down as much as I would like. Still pretty bright Even at max dim. No biggie, but would be nice to be able to dim further.I have installed a number of these lights to replace the old incandescent lights in my Hunter 43 sailboat. Very pleased with external appearance and warm light color. the option of dimming is also a plus. Do not know how they will stand up after years of use at the waterline but far less expensive than "marine grade".I like the light wish it went a little more dimmer. Mostly i dont like the noise it make all the time!I really really wanted to give these a 5 star great review because they really looked amazing when I replaced my existing RV undercabinet lights with these and these work great and dim great and everything. Problem is my RV comes from the mfr with it's LED ceiling lights on a dimmer switch at the door. Ceiling and undercabinets are on completely different wiring, but when the RV ceiling lights are turned on and dimmed even a fraction of a percentage then these lights under the cabinet create a high pitched hum thats very disturbing no matter what, and even if these lights are tapped off they still hum when the existing ceiling lights are dimmed.Ceiling lights off - no hum from these under the cabinet.Ceiling lights on - humming from these that almost hurts the ears.I'm sure it's a reaction to the dimmer on the other lights on the other wiring. Sadly other LED lights in my RV aren't humming the same way, so these have to go back. Such a shame. These really work well and look great. It's not this mfr's fault. So just a caution that if you have any dimmers anywhere else in your RV then these lights might hum when the other dimmers are used. Sad face. These were a comperable brightness replacement for the small, aged cabin lights in my sailboat. 2 in the v-berth area, and 2 over the settees in the main cabin. They were slightly smaller in footprint, and just a bit brighter on high setting - great for reading. The dimmed setting was a nice pleasant warm glow. The frosted light ring keeps it from being blinding when looking directly at it. The sleek profile and chromed bezel and touch switch make for a very clean look after install. I put these in a 40 year old sailboat and they DON'T look out-of-place.If they make one of these in a 6" size, I'd replace my last 2 larger fixtures. Absolutely love these! You can order them as singles, a 4 pack, or a 6 pack. I ordered the 4 pack as I had 4 small lights to replace. My main gripe is that the dimming feature only reduced the output by perhaps 30%....the light is still quite bright at the lowest setting. And it takes time for it to grind down to the lower output while you thand there with your finger on the button. So, I returned them and installed the much less expensive standard RV "puck" push button LED lights.I used these to replace some old interior incandescent lights (weaker than a 194 bulb) on my boat. They were much brighter even at the lowest setting, which is what I hoped for. I have multiple on a common switch and each one can be turned off or dimmed individually and will remember it's setting when cycled. It's still a relatively warm light, which is a must-have for relaxing, IMO. Took a gamble on a pack of 6 and it payed off.Bought for our van conversion, very slim so no need to have large holes to countersink just hole for wires. Smashing little item with just a slight touch there on an off and each with a dimmer I know there a bit more expensive but there worth every penny. We are very pleased with the the lights.easy to fit great power saving, excellent productLove these easy to use. And great light. Replaced all lights in my narrow boat with these.Fabulous lights look amazing on the boat. Touch light. Dims too.Installed in my van. They are quality and have a really nice responsive touch dimmer and switch on the lights so I can can dim them individually. So glad I paid the extra for these.
